WEEK 1 PREVIEW

It's time once again for Bay Cities Fantasy Football and Week 1 is underway. The Cowboys defeated the Giants, 24-17, in the NFL season opener this past Wednesday. All but 3 teams (Ryan, Kelvin, and Mike) have points on the board. However, we are a long way from over. So let's take a look at this week's opening round match-ups and the latest line offered by CBS Sportsline on the game.

THE SPOILER
Original Division
Cam Newton (Panthers)
vs
HOUSTON FUZZ
Extra Crispy Division
Tom Brady (Patriots)

LATEST LINE: 172-147, Houston Fuzz (+25)
CURRENT SCORE: 16-0, Houston Fuzz

Breakdown - Two of the leagues most dynamic signal-callers from each division square off in an opening round battled between Extra Crispy's Fuzz and Original's Spoiler. Cam Newton of the Panthers will hope to repeat last year's impressive fantasy campaign with the Panthers in the NFC South. Meanwhile, Tom Brady, three-time Superbowl Champion hopes to get things started in the AFC East once again with his New England Patriots.

Supporting players for The Spoiler include Philip Rivers, Marshawn Lynch and Steven Jackson. The Houston Fuzz will look to Eli Manning, Michael Turner, and newcomer Trent Richardson to led the way.

THE MEGATONS
Original Division
Ray Rice (Ravens)
vs
ALLIE-GATORS
Original Division
Matt Ryan

LATEST LINE: 158-149, The Megatons (+9)
CURRENT SCORE: 16-0, The Megatons

Breakdown - A classic battle between a pair of veteran BCFFLers and former league champions. The Gators roll this year behind the arm of Falcons' QB Matt Ryan. Joining forces with the Atlanta QB are Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall of the Bears, as well as Darren McFadden and Antonio Gates who face off on Monday Night Football.

For The Megatons, they are building their franchise this year on the back of Ravens' RB Ray Rice. Helping to lighten the load will be Chris Johnson, Demaryius Thomas, and Ben Roethlisberger. This figures to be a very close game to follow!

PREDATORS
Original Division
Aaron Rodgers (Packers)
VS

BACKDOOR BANDITS

Original Division
 Drew Brees (Saints)

LATEST LINE: 157-156, Backdoor Bandits (+1)
CURRENT SCORE: 32-8, Backdoor Bandits

Breakdown - The Bandits got off to a very hot start on Wednesday night with 32-points thanks to Cowboys QB Tony Romo. Their top pick Drew Brees should match Romo's effort to help lead the way for the Bandits. Jamaal Charles and Matt Forte provide a solid 1-2 punch in the running game for this former BCFFL Champion.

On the other side of the ball, the Predators will lean on consensus #1 NFL fantasy pick Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers (Bandits' owner Greg's favorite team, ironically) to lead their charge to victory. Joining Rodgers are Michael Vick, Jordy Nelson, and Beanie Wells among others.

DELTA MARAUDERS
Extra Crispy Division
Robert Griffin III (Redskins)
vs
LOUD NOISES!!!
Extra Crispy Division
Andrew Luck (Colts)

LATEST LINE: 164-162, Delta Marauders (+2)
CURRENT SCORE: 5-0, Delta Marauders

Breakdown - This year's #1 (Andrew Luck) and #2 (Robert Griffin III) NFL Draft Picks will square off in the BCFFL in Week 1. No better way to find out who's for real or not in our first game; in their first game. That alone makes this game intriguing.

Another important story related to this game is that Shane has now won the BCFFL for the past two years in a row and thus, this game begins his second season as league champion. Meanwhile, Ryan - a football guru by any measure - brings his brand of fantasy football for the very first time to the BCFFL. This is his long-awaited debut in our league.

The Marauders line up next to their rookie players such as Matthew Stafford, Vernon Davis, and Victor Cruz. Loud Noises!!! will send out Jake Locker, LeSean McCoy, and Rob Gronkowski to give it their all for a first league victory in their very first game. Good luck to both of you!

FRICK and FRACK
Extra Crispy Division
Arian Foster
vs
WILDCATS
Extra Crispy Division
Calvin Johnson

LATEST LINE: 146-139, Wildcats (+7)
CURRENT SCORE: 17-16, Frick and Frack

Breakdown - Joining forces this season are three-time champion John (Stingrays) and the winningest BCFFL single-season champion (14-1) Alex. Together, they've been dubbed "Frick and Frack" by Predators owner, D. The name stuck, and now they hope to stick the rest of the league with bad luck every week as they fight for the championship in 2012.

The league's #1 ranked RB fell into their lap in this QB-hungry draft with the #6 pick. Joining Foster are Matt Schaub, Peyton Manning, and Larry Fitzgerald. The Wildcats pose a big threat with the likes of Julio Jones, Jimmy Graham, and Greg Jennings.

GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!
