WEEK 3 REPORT

COUGARS EXTRA CRISPY
IN WIN OVER GATORS!

Adrian Peterson rushed for 160 yards and 2 TDs, including an 80-yarder for 43-points on the day and a 155-121 win over the Allie-Gators in our Game of the Week. Mark Sanchez scored 36-points on an exciting night in Miami for the Jets. Looks like he's avoiding the sophomore jinx and is blossoming into a bonafide star QB: 256 passing yards and 3 TDs (24, 12, and 67 yards).

Another major contributor for the Cougars in Week 3 was tight end, Antonio Gates who racked up 109 receiving yards and caught a 12-yard TD pass in San Diego's road loss to Seattle. Eli Manning (15) and Frank Gore (14) also were major contributors in the Cougars big win. They now take over first place in the Extra Crispy Division with a 2-1 record.

The Gators were led by RB Cedric Benson in Week 3 with 26-points. He rushed for 81 yards in a win over the Panthers and scored twice: once rushing (1-yard) and once receiving (7-yards). The Steelers DST continues to dominate the fantasy points and had another amazing week in a big win over Tampa Bay with 24-points on 4 sacks, DFR, 13 PA, and a 79-yard touchdown.

The breakdown for the Gators in Week 3 came at the hands of the receiving corps. Reggie Wayne had an off week with 6-points. Austin Collie seems to be blowing up for Indy which may explain the lack of production on Wayne's part. Wes Welker also had an off week with 4-points, and basically the Gators had just one WR who caught a TD in Greg Jennings, but only 18-receiving yards from the Green Bay playmaker.

Cutler (18) and Smith (15) had decent weeks at QB, but it simply wasn't enough to overcome the Cougars' efforts to secure the victory. The Gators will now move on to face the defending champions in Week 4 as they battle the Predators. For the Cougars, Week 4 is The Megatons.  Good luck to both squads!

PREDATORS REMAIN UNDEFEATED!

The most recent victim in the path of the Predators was the Houston Fuzz in Week 3. Peyton Manning threw for 325 yards and 3 TDs (5, 9, 23) in a win over Denver, leading the way to a 122-88 pasting of the Fuzz. The Predators #1 draft pick has been sensational through the first three weeks of play.

Brandon Marshall came through with a Sunday night performance that included an 11-yard TD reception and 166 receiving yards for Miami. Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for a 10-yard TD and 19-points.

I'd like to point out that the #1 DST, SF 49ers, have been in the Predators line-up twice and have totaled -1 points. So much for that. The Predators added the K.C. defense this week. Meanwhile, D's Steelers DST have been tearing up the league.

Jermichael Finley also had a nice weekend with 115 receiving yards without a TD for Green Bay. Shut down this week after a huge game against Philadelphia, Jahvid Best was good for just 3-points.

The Fuzz didn't come up with any spectacular numbers this week. The team was led by four players who scored in double-figures, including Kevin Walter (pictured above) with 13-points, Marion Barber (13), Matt Schaub (14), and Carson Palmer (11). Everything else came in single-digits and did not amount to much in a tough loss to the defending champions.

The Fuzz move on to face the Delta Marauders while the Predators host the Allie-Gators in Week 4 as they look to extend their winning streak to four in a row this season.

GAUCHOS THUMP THUGS, 163-127!

Anquan Boldin caught 3 TDs in the Ravens win over Cleveland and led the Gauchos to their first win this season, 163-127, over the Parking Thugs. It was Boldin's breakout game for his new team as he caught TD passes of 8, 12, and 27 yards on top of 142 receiving yards.

Also coming up HUGE for the Gauchos was their QB Chad Henne, acquired via trade from the Predators in Week 1. Henne threw for 363 yards, 2 TDs, and 28-points in Miami's loss at home to the Jets on Sunday night.

Matt Hasselbeck continues to show progress. He threw for 220 yards and a TD in Seattle's home win over San Diego. And Randy Moss is shining for New England for the second straight week, catching 2 TDs (7, 35) as New England defeated Buffalo. Looks like his whining about wanting to leave New England may have resulted in increased attention at the WR spot.

One big miss for the Gauchos was yet another remarkable outing from Austin Collie in Indianapolis who caught 171 yards and 2 TDs for 37-points. I doubt he'll see much more bench time. Jeremy Shockey was also missing in action with 17-points on the bench.

The Thugs had great outings from their top two picks as Tony Romo and Philip Rivers both had 32-points in Week 3. They threw for 739 yards and 4 TDs (15, 63, 3, 12). Zach Miller (16) Sebastian Janikowski (14), and the Eagles DST (13) were the other major contributors for the Thugs.

The trouble was that their RBs (Jackson, McCoy and Williams) combined for 14-points, which pretty much killed their chances. Mason and Sims-Walker were good for a combined 6-points at WR.

This team will look to recover from the Week 3 performance as they face one of the two 3-0 teams in the league in Week 4, The Spoiler. Meanwhile, the Gauchos move on to face this week's $10 top score team, the Backdoor Bandits and evening their record at 2-2.

BANDITS WIN BIG OVER MEGATONS!

The Backdoor Bandits got their first win on the season with an emphatic 219-point outburst over the Megatons. The new-and-improved Michael Vick let the dogs out (so to speak) on his way to a 49-point virtuoso performance in Jacksonville. He ran for a TD, passed for 3 more, and threw a total of 291 yards. Looks like Kevin Kolb may be collecting unemployment soon at this rate.

With 219-points, you can guess that pretty much everyone else contributed in this big win for the Bandits. McNabb was hot (17) in Washington's defeat on Sunday. DeSean Jackson (35) and Santana Moss (22) did in fact benefit from the two QBs in the Bandits line-up. Tony Gonzalez also had an outstanding day for Atlanta (21) in their win over New Orleans.

The league's top draft pick Chris Johnson rushed for 125 yards and 2 TDs (1,8) in Tennessee's win over the Giants. And Michael Turner rushed for 114 yards and a TD (1) for Atlanta. Darren McFadden had 105 rushing yards and a TD in Oakland's 24-23 loss to Arizona.

The Bandits also had 71-points on the bench. This was certainly their week to score big and they took full advantage of it in a 219-113 win over The Megatons.

The Megatons got a great game out of Drew Brees (38-points) on 365 passing yards and 3 TDs (2, 80, 16). Matt Ryan was good for 25 points. Beyond the production of the QBs, it was a down week in all respects for The Megatons. They came up with single-digits in all areas except for Steven Jackson (11).

This weekend the Megatons will face the Cougars while the Bandits take on the Gauchos.

THE SPOILER IMPROVE TO 3-0!

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came up short against Chicago, but his 316 passing yards and a TD for 29-points, helped lead The Spoiler to a 3-0 record and an impressive 151-92 victory over the Delta Marauders.

Kyle Orton was also huge in Week 3, throwing for 476 yards and a 48-yard TD in Denver's loss to the Colts. Rashard Mendenhall continues to shine for Pittsburgh (22-points) and Jeremy Maclin had a big day for Philadelphia (28-points).

The Bears DST were major players with 18-points on 17 PA, a 62-yard punt return courtesy of Devin Hester, an Int, and a DFR.

The Delta Marauders dropped their second in a row in Week 3, but did enjoy solid games from Tom Brady (30-points) on 252 passing yards and 3 TDs, and "Rowdy" Roddy White of Atlanta, with 16-points on 69-receiving yards and a 22-yard TD.

It was a tough week for the DMs' RBs as McGahee (2) and the white hot Matt Forte (2) were slowed down considerably. Major points left on the bench in Week 3 included C.J. Spiller who returned a kick 95-yards against the Patriots and racked up 29-points, and Mike Wallace, who had a 100-yard receiving day and two TDs (46, 41) for 30-points.

The DMs host the Houston Fuzz in Week 4 and The Spoiler will take on The Parking Thugs.

WEEK 3 PREVIEW

Week 3 is upon us. The match-ups are set. Battles will be fought this weekend between some unfamiliar opponents as well as some epic rivalries. Our Game of the Week features two former champions, no strangers to each other, the Cougars and Allie-Gators, who will look to improve to 2-1 with a win. Both teams have enjoyed victory and both teams have suffered the sting of defeat in the opening weeks of the season. The Cougars most recently earned the $10 prize for most points per week with 183. The Gators welcomed the Gauchos back to the BCFFL in Week 1 with a dominating victory. So what is going to give in Week 3? For more on all the action in Week 3, including this huge match-up, let's get to the preview:

GAME OF THE WEEK

COUGARS (1-1)
Extra Crispy Division
VS
ALLIE-GATORS  (1-1)
Original Division

Adrian Peterson (17.5 ppg avg)

The Cougars bring a couple of stud RBs to battle the Gators. Leading the way is Vikings RB Adrian Peterson who has rushed for 232 yards and is averaging nearly 18 points per game. QB Eli Manning has passed for 424 yards and 5 TDs. Frank Gore came alive on Monday night against New Orleans and he may break loose in Arrowhead on Sunday for a big game. Chad Ochocinco is the team's leading receiver with over 200 yards and a TD. This team is averaging about 142 points per game. If they can hold to that average or exceed expectations, the Cougars could be on top of the Gators when the weekend is complete.

Jay Cutler (649 passing yards)

The Allie-Gators are led by the quarterback of team owner Mike Gaffney's favorite team, the Chicago Bears. That must add an extra touch of excitement to planning for each opponent. And after last year's ghastly performance out of Cutler, the jury was out on whether or not he'd be able to handle the pressure of being an NFL quarterback. Well, how do you like 649 passing yards, 5 TDs, and a 33.5 points per game average in two weeks? This should bode well for the Gators, whose star QB will take center stage in a game against Green Bay. In this game last year, Cutler threw, was it 7 (?) interceptions. You know he wants to redeem himself, and what better stage will he have than a national audience in prime time?

Meanwhile, the Gators are going to hit you with the likes of Cedric Benson and Maurice Jones-Drew at RB. Wes Welker and Reggie Wayne had 5 receiving TDs between the two of them and they're both averaging between 17-20 points per game. The Steelers DST is another not-so-secret weapon of the AGs, pouring it on thick against Tennessee last weekend and totaling 39-points in two games.

This most certainly will be a closely fought battle in Week 3. A case could be made for both teams having a good chance in this one. Good luck to both as you face each other in our Game of the Week!

PREDATORS (2-0)
Original Division
VS
HOUSTON FUZZ (1-1)
Extra Crispy Division

Jahvid Best (Lions Rookie Sensation)

The Predators continue the defense of their BCFFL Championship as they face the Houston Fuzz in Week 3. Coming off a strong performance against Philadelphia in Week 2, the rushing/receiving threat of Jahvid Best in Detroit may cause problems for the Fuzz.

Peyton Manning and Brett Favre lead the way at QB. Andre Johnson and Arian Foster will look to counter the Fuzz's top pick, Matt Schaub. And the Predators turn to Patrick Willis and the Niners DST to come up big in Kansas City for some points on defense.

Carson Palmer (512 passing yards, 2 TDs)

The Fuzz will hope for some major production out of Carson Palmer this week as the Predators have all the weapons Matt Schaub would likely throw to. Palmer's been averaging 17-18 points per game. The Fuzz could really use a boost out of the Cincinnati QB in Week 2.

Mario Manningham and Tim Hightower had big weeks on the bench in Week 2 and have earned a starting spot in the line-up this weekend. Ronnie Brown and Marion Foster join Hightower carrying the ball. This would be a huge win for the Fuzz over the defending champions.

THE SPOILER (2-0)
Original Division
VS
DELTA MARAUDERS (1-1)
Extra Crispy Division

Aaron Rodgers (443 passing yards, 4 TDs)

The Spoiler are off to a great start at 2-0 and thanks in large part to the efforts of Packers' QB, Aaron Rodgers. He's in a nice rhythm throwing the rock and he has a rushing TD. Look for the good production to continue out of Rodgers on Monday night against division rival, Chicago. Rashard Mendenhall, Hakeem Nicks, and Dallas Clark provide the bulk of the points for The Spoiler and hope to turn up the heat this weekend as they face stiff competition in the Delta Marauders.

Matt Forte (32.5 avg ppg)

The Delta Marauders are just 1-point shy of being 2-0 this season. The DMs suffered a tough defeat in our Game of the Week against the defending champion, Predators. This weekend, the DMs look to rebound as they face the 2-0 Spoiler. Forte and Rodgers will highlight the Monday night match-up as Chicago faces Green Bay.

Looks like maybe Bruce Gradkowski and not Sam Bradford will get to play Robin to Tom Brady's Batman at the QB spot. Roddy White and Demaryius Thomas will lead the way at WR, and Willis McGahee will hope to complement Forte rushing.

PARKING THUGS (1-1)
Extra Crispy Division
VS
GAUCHOS(0-2)
Original Division

LeSean McCoy (4 rushing TDs)

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy rushed for 3 TDs in last weekend's game against Detroit. Jahvid Best and DeSean Jackson stole the show with their playmaking abilities, but LeSean was the unsung hero for Philadelphia. He may take center stage in the Parking Thugs match-up with the Gauchos in Week 3. Look for more out of LJ who is averaging just over 25 points per game.

Philip Rivers and Tony Romo headline the PTs at QB. Brandon Jackson and DeAngelo Williams are the duo carrying the ball next to LeSean.

The Gauchos have Williams' counterpart in Carolina with Jonathan Stewart. But it's this guy -

 - Ray Rice, that the Parking Thugs might have to worry about. Silenced in two agames so far against New York and Cincinnati, Rice figures to have a breakout game sooner rather than later. It may very come this weekend, as the Gauchos hope to reap the rewards of their #1 pick this season.

Jamall Charles also carries the rock, and throwing it, once again is Matt Hasselbeck in Seattle. Chad Henne handles the duties on Sunday night in prime time against New York for the Dolphins. The Gauchos hope to nail down their first win this weekend against the Thugs.

BACKDOOR BANDITS (0-2)
Extra Crispy Division
VS
THE MEGATONS (1-1)
Original Division

Chris Johnson (21 avg ppg)

The Backdoor Bandits are off to a rough start in 2010 with two straight losses. Chris Johnson, our #1 overall pick, has impressed for Tennessee. The Bandits hope his outstanding production leads to a win over one of the BCFFL's most formidable franchises, the mighty Megatons.

Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick will start at QB, and joining CJ will be Michael Turner and Darren McFadden. Santana Moss and DeSean Jackson are at WR, so if these combinations hook up once or twice on Sunday, this could turn into exponentially huge points production for the Bandits.

Drew Brees (491 passing yds, 3 TDs, 0 ints)

Drew Brees is playing like the Super Bowl champion that he is. Leading his team to big wins, including their most recent Monday night road victory in San Francisco, Brees has nearly 500 passing yards, 3 TDs, and no interceptions this season. The Megatons are enjoying this outstanding player, and hope that Matt Ryan continues his hot streak, (477 passing yards, 3 TDs, 1 int) this weekend as well.

There appear to be a few question marks with players recovering from injuries in The Megatons line-up, but these are durable players like Steve Smith of the Panthers, and Cadillac Williams of Tampa Bay. They'll fight through it.

The Bandits are going all out for win #1, so this should be a very exciting contest.

Good luck to all this weekend!

WEEK 2 REPORT

In Week 2, the Extra Crispy and Original divisions squared off in five showdown matches, including our featured GAME OF THE WEEK which went right down to the wire. The Extra Crispy Division may have lost the main event, but the undercard was rather one-sided. The Houston Fuzz, Cougars, and Parking Thugs won their respective match-ups with The Spoiler being the only exception other than the Predators to record a victory.

Let's take a look back on all the action from Week 2 of the BCFFL beginning with our Game of the Week:

PEYTON WINS BIG!

Peyton Manning is not only the NFL's highest-paid player, he's been just about the best fantasy player two weeks in a row. After a 45-point performance in Houston during Week 1, Peyton faced his younger brother, Eli, on Sunday night in prime time, and put in 36-points more. Very impressive. He was a good 16-points better than his adversary, Tom Brady, on the Delta Marauders, and played an instrumental role in bringing the Predators to a nailbiting 132-131 victory!

The Predators #2 draft pick, Andre Johnson, rose to the occasion, overcoming an injury early in Sunday's game against Washington, and made a sensational touchdown catch on his way to 25-points in this game. The Chiefs defense rewarded the Predators with 13-points in their win over Cleveland.

And Arian Foster impressed in that game as well with 69 yards receiving and 69 yards rushing for 12-points.

The Delta Marauders were just narrowly beaten and remain a very strong contender in the BCFFL at this point. It's tough to knock off the champs any time you're in that big of a game, and the score (132-131) shows they had a great chance to be the first to do so.

Tom Brady had a great game with 25-points in a road loss to the Jets. Dez Bryant returned a punt in Dallas' loss to the Bears and added 21-points for the Marauders. Sam Bradford (18) and Matt Forte (15) also played well for the DMs in Week 2.

In the end, the Predators, your defending champions, remain undefeated heading into Week 3. Who will be the first team to rack up a win against the champs? We may find out in Week 3 as they prepare to face the Houston Fuzz. The Marauders will go on to face The Spoiler in Week 3.

COUGARS WIN $10 PRIZE
& A BIG WIN OVER THE BANDITS!

We had a feeling that the Cougars line-up was looking good thanks to the handiwork of Stingrays owner John Castanha, at the draft. But 183-points in Week 2 good? Now THAT is impressive. Frank Gore and the 49ers offense came alive but fell 3-points short against the world champion Saints. His 34-points propelled the Cougars to the big win over the Backdoor Bandits for their first of the season.

Week 2 was all about waking up for the Cougars. Take Mark Sanchez for example. His 31-points was huge as the Jets defeated the Patriots at home. He struggled to do much of anything against Baltimore in Week 1 on Monday night. Antonio Gates caught a couple of TD passes at home against the Jags for 25-points. Eli Manning struggled but still poured on 24-points for the Giants in defeat to Indianapolis. And Adrian Peterson made the highlight reels with a tremendous leapfrogging run on his way to 26-points in Minnesota. When all the wheels are clicking for the Cougars, they have a very strong arsenal of weapons to hurt you with.

The Bandits struggles continued in Week 2 as they dropped to 0-2 in defeat to the Cougars. Donovan McNabb (27) and Michael Vick (29) were the team leaders with a combined 56-points. DeSean Jackson (Vick's WR) was the main beneficiary with 23-points. And Darren McFadden added 14-points at RB.

Congrats to the Cougars on their big win and good luck this weekend as they face the Allie-Gators, and to the Bandits as they battle The Megatons.

ALLIE-GATORS TICKETED
BY THE PARKING THUGS, 139-131!

LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles led the Parking Thugs to an 8-point victory over the Allie-Gators in Week 2 with 120 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs (14, 4, 46). Tony Romo (20) and Philip Rivers did their part for the Thugs as the top two draft picks threw for 708 passing yards combined and 4 TDs (1, 9, 4, 54). Even good old Sebastian Janikowski got in on the act with 10-points kicking.

The Gators got another great start out of a new-and-improved Jay Cutler (31-points) and an impressive Monday night showing from Alex Smith (19-points). The Steelers DST kicked things off Sunday morning by returning the opening kick-off for a TD and finished the day with 29-points for the AGs. Lastly, Reggie Wayne continues to impress and he added 19-points of his own.

Still, too many players came up short down the stretch for the Gators and the Thugs walked away with a W for the Extra Crispy Division.

RODGERS *SPOILS* HIS TEAM
WITH 34-POINTS IN VICTORY!

The fantasy phenom, Aaron Rodgers, cruised to a big win over Buffalo with 255 passing yards, 2 TDs, plus 20 rushing yards and a rushing TD, in The Spoiler's 152-124 win over The Megatons. The Original Division's only other win was due in large part to the efforts of the Green Bay signal-caller.

Dallas Clark came through for The Spoiler with a 50-yard receiving TD. Kyle Orton was strong at QB in Denver with 307 passing yards, 2 TDs, and 27-points. And Chris Cooley, the OTHER tight end in the line-up pitched in 16-points in the big win.

The Megatons struggled to find points at RB with Pierre Thomas (9) and Cadillac Williams (5) coming up short. The tight end situation in Megatons-land was not so rosy as Brent Celek had a case of stage fright with just 2-points. The highlights were Steve Smith with a 37-yard TD reception and 16-points; Drew Brees with a big Monday night road victory in SF (24) and Matt Ryan (29) who dismantled the Arizona Cardinals.

Anytime you get over on The Megatons, it is a big deal. They are historically one of the league's toughest teams to beat.

FUZZ CLOBBER GAUCHOS, 101-66!

This game nearly turned into a battle of who could score the least amount of points? Mired in a game somewhere in the mid-50s in terms of points, the Fuzz jumped ahead with more than 40-points in the afternoon games to run away with it. Top draft pick Matt Schaub hit the Gauchos with 40-points on damn near 500 passing yards (497) and 3 TDs.

Kevin Walter was the big difference-maker and major contributor for the Fuzz as he caught many of those Schaub passes for 144-receiving yards and 24-points. There wasn't much beyond those two, but that appeared to be enough to paste the Gauchos.

Tim Hightower was left on the Fuzz bench with 27-points on 115 rushing yards and an 80-yard TD. Mario Manningham was another miss with 27-points on the bench with a 54-yard receiving TD.

The Gauchos missed BIG TIME with Matt Hasselbeck on the bench with 27-points and Vince Young getting thrown to the wolves with 0-points against Pittsburgh. Randy Moss made a sweet one-handed TD catch for 13-points and Austin Collie had 12-points on Sunday night at home against the Giants.

In the end, 66-points is just 66-points. Gulp.

So that's it for Week 2 in the BCFFL. Your Week 3 preview will be on the way!

So far, the Extra Crispy Division are split 3-3 in six games this season thanks to the Predators win over the Cougars last weekend. Yes, for those of you keeping score, the Predators have 2 of the 3 Original Division wins over the Extra Crispy Division this season.

WEEK 2 PREVIEW: EXTRA CRISPY vs ORIGINAL SHOWDOWN!

In Week 2, every match-up features a team from the Extra Crispy Division battling a team from the Original Division. We have a couple of match-ups featuring teams that suffered defeat in Week 1 (Bandits vs Cougars, Fuzz vs Gauchos) and another match-up featuring the league's top two teams (Predators vs Delta Marauders). The season is early, but this inter-divisional showdown could set the tone for what lies ahead. Week 2 is shaping up to be a pivotal week of BCFFL action. On to the match-ups:

GAME of the WEEK

PREDATORS (1-0)
Original Division
vs
DELTA MARAUDERS (1-0)
Extra Crispy Division

Manning vs Brady

This week's marquee match-up pits the defending BCFFL Champion Predators and their top draft pick, Peyton Manning, up against the Delta Marauders, and their top draft pick, Tom Brady. This storied rivalry in the NFL has many interesting chapters, and it will once again most likely define the outcome of this weekend's Game of the Week in the BCFFL.

Both QBs started the season with big games last Sunday as Manning dropped 45-points and Brady threw 3 TD passes in a rout of Cincinnati. This Sunday the Pats travel to face the Jets while Peyton Manning gets a nationwide audience on Sunday night in prime time on NBC against his younger brother, Eli.

In a supporting role for the Predators this weekend, look for the NFL's latest emerging star RB Arian Foster to reprise his amazing performance last Sunday at home against Indy. Brett Favre will be slinging against the Dolphins. Big Andre Johnson looks to get on track alongside Larry Fitzgerald and Brandon Marshall  at receiver.

Meanwhile, the Marauders will counter with last week's top BCFFL performer, Matt Forte, and his 50-points as the Bears battle the Cowboys. Dez Bryant and Roddy White handle the receiving duties, and newly-acquired Willis McGahee and Sam Bradford round out the line-up.

Big games are usually won by the little guys, so we'll see which team has enough of the little things to get the job done in Week 2 as the Predators and Delta Marauders battle in our Game of the Week.

THE MEGATONS (1-0)
 Extra Crispy Division
vs
THE SPOILER (1-0)
Original Division

Brees vs Rodgers

It just wouldn't be the BCFFL unless the QBs were the center of attention. This match-up featuring The Megatons and The Spoiler is no exception. It will be Drew Brees and the Super Bowl Champion Saints on Monday night in San Francisco battling this year's Fantasy Football posterboy, Aaron Rodgers, as the Packers take on the Buffalo Bills.

Both QBs looked worthy of their status as top fantasy picks in Week 2 and look to continue their fast start in their respective games this weekend. The supporting cast will presumably make all the difference in the world as Andrew and Kelvin square off in a battle of early unbeatens.

For The Megatons, look for Matt Ryan to make a big contribution in Atlanta as the Falcons face the Cardinals, and Steven Jackson may peel off a few big runs right here in Oakland against the Raiders. Miles Austin and Steve Smith look to continue their hot start at WR along with Dwayne Bowe of Kansas City.

The Spoiler will try to get win #2 with players such as Chris Cooley, who Donovan McNabb seemed to throw to a great deal last Sunday night; Hakeem Nicks, who opened the season with 3 TD receptions against Carolina; and Rashard Mendenhall, who broke off a 50-yard TD run for the Steelers in their opening weekend win against Atlanta.

This game figures to be split right down the middle. It should be a good one as The Megatons battle The Spoiler in Week 2.

PARKING THUGS (0-1)
 Extra Crispy Division
vs
ALLIE-GATORS (1-0)
Original Division

RIVERS & ROMO

Again we find ourselves staring at a top match-up this weekend featuring a couple of the NFL's best QBs, except this time they're both on the same team. The Parking Thugs got off to a tough start last weekend, but with Rivers and Romo throwing the football, the Allie-Gators may have their hands full. This Sunday, the #10 and #11 overall draft picks will square off against Jacksonville (Rivers) and Chicago (Romo). They should wind up with the lion's share of the Thugs' points.

Brandon Jackson was picked up in a lottery drawing this week for the Thugs. Jackson replaces the Packers' injured, RB, Ryan Grant, as Green Bay faces Buffalo. Nate Washington looks to continue his strong start as he faces his former team when the Titans play Pittsburgh.

WELCOME BACK, WELKER!

Meanwhile, the Allie-Gators may have got the steal of this year's draft when they took the new-and-improved Wes Welker, back from a knee injury. Welker caught 2 TD passes in New England's home opener against Cincinnati. He looks to continue his strong start as the Pats battle their division rival, NY Jets this Sunday.

Jay Cutler will also hope to rekindle the magic from his 372-yard passing performance in Week 1 as the Bears face Dallas. Reggie Wayne and Greg Jennings can also light up the scoreboard quickly as they lead the receiving corps for the Gators.

Either the Thugs' QBs will lead the way, or the Allie-Gators will continue their high-scoring ways in this BCFFL battle in Week 2.

HOUSTON FUZZ (0-1)
 Extra Crispy Division
vs
GAUCHOS (0-1)
Original Division

SCHAUB & THE FUZZ

A few heads turned when the Houston Fuzz drafted hometown hero, Matt Schaub with their first pick in the first round of this year's BCFFL draft. A few more heads turned when Schaub and the Texans opened the season with what many are calling a watershed victory over their AFC South rivals, the Indianapolis Colts. This weekend, the Fuzz look to recover from a narrow Week 1 defeat to The Megatons as they take on the Gauchos.

Carson Palmer will hope to get the Super Bowl bound Bengals up and running as the T.O. Show and Chad Ochocinco take on the Ravens. The Fuzz trio of RBs hopes to inflict some pain on the Gauchos as well with the likes of Marion Barber, Ronnie Brown, and Ryan Mathews carrying the rock.

Both the Fuzz and the Gauchos have a Colts receiver looking to score big. Last weekend, Austin Collie had a career outing against Houston, racking up 36 fantasy points. Will it be Collie once again or Pierre Garçon this Sunday night against the Giants that gets all the attention from Peyton Manning?

JAMAAL CHARLES - CHIEFS

Either way with the Colts receivers, the Gauchos biggest revelation early in the season is their star at running back, Jamaal Charles, who simply went off against the Chargers on Monday night. Will he have more left in the tank this weekend as the Chiefs face the Browns? One would certainly think so. Charles ran for nearly 700 yards in the last 4 regular season games last year. He continued his hot streak with a 70+ yard TD run against the Bolts in Week 1. What will he have in store for the Browns this weekend? Stay tuned!

The Gauchos also hope to see a better outing from their #1 pick, Ray Rice, as the Ravens take on the Bengals. And Matt Hasselbeck seems to have the Seahawks moving in the right direction once again. Along with Vince Young, this could prove to be a nice little duo throwing the ball for the Gauchos.

Both teams are hungry for their first win of the fantasy season. We'll see if the Fuzz can right the ship or perhaps the Gauchos, back in the BCFFL after a year off, can get the job done in Week 2.

BACKDOOR BANDITS (0-1)
 Extra Crispy Division
vs
COUGARS (0-1)
Original Division

McNABB vs MANNING

The final match-up in Week 2 features the Original Division's Backdoor Bandits and their QB, Donovan McNabb, going up against the Extra Crispy Division's Cougars, and their QB, Eli Manning. The Cougars lost another inter-division battle in Week 1 to the Predators. They'll hope to get on track with a win as the younger Manning brother, Eli, battles his big brother, Peyton on NBC this Sunday night.

GORE!

The Cougars attack you at RB with a couple of the game's best: Frank Gore and Adrian Peterson. Gore has the Monday night game at home against New Orleans. Peterson, meanwhile, will be at home as the Vikings host the Dolphins. If these two backs get off to a hot start, things could get ugly quick for the Bandits.

The receiving corps for the Cougars consists of Chad Ochocino, Percy Harvin, Calvin Johnson, and Antonio Gates. There's no question that Calvin Johnson will look to score a TD properly this weekend after last Sunday's gaffe in Chicago dropping the ball on what would have been the winning catch.

The Bandits are no slouches either. They not only have the Redskins new franchise QB, Donovan McNabb, but the newly-appointed starter at QB in Philadelphia, Michael Vick. Darren McFadden played his way into the starting line-up with his impressive performance last weekend in Tennessee. He hopes to stay hot at home as the Raiders face St. Louis.

And who can forget that while the Cougars may have Peterson and Gore, the Bandits have this year's #1 overall draft pick handling the rushing duties for their team? That's right, welcome, Chris Johnson.

So while nearly every other game features major QB match-ups, and even this one does to an extent, the major focus in this game most certainly favors the RB battle of Gore/Peterson and CJ.

The Bandits receivers will hope to lighten the load for Johnson as DeSean Jackson and Santana Moss handle those duties. Throw Michael Turner and Tony Gonzalez in for good measure, and the Bandits could be staring at a big win in Week 2.

Best of luck to all as we enter Week 2 of BCFFL action. It's the Extra Crispy Division taking on the Original Division in five huge games this weekend!

WEEK 1 REPORT

ALLIE-GATORS "CUT"
THE GAUCHOS TO PIECES!

The Allie-Gators got off to a great start for the 2010 season with a 153-108 victory over the Gauchos. Leading the way to victory was Jay Cutler, who seems to have figured out that he needs to throw the ball to his own teammates instead of the opposition. That worked out well for him and the Bears to the tune of a combined 455 passing yards (along with now-injured QB, Matthew Stafford), and an 89-yard TD pass to Matt Forte. Cutler's game-high 36-points was the driving force for the Gators in Week 1.

In a supporting role, the new-and-improved Patriots wide receiver, Wes Welker, caught 2 TDs (9- and 4-yards, respectively) in New England's win over the Bengals. Reggie Wayne continues to be the Colts #1 receiving threat and caught a 19-yard TD pass in his team's opening weekend road loss to Houston. And rounding out the receiving trio for the AGs, Greg Jennings also caught a 32-yard TD pass in Green Bay's road win over the Eagles.

The Gators got maximum effort out of their line-up and it appears that they've drafted a very strong, high-scoring team. Very few points were left on the bench in this rout. Perhaps Mohamed Massaquoi (14-points) would be worth consideration. The AGs had a respectable 163 rushing yards in Week 1.

For the Gauchos, their *starting line-up* should have been the reserves. That shows what a year off can do to a fantasy football owner. Prior to kick-off on Sunday morning, the Gauchos completed a deal with the Predators, sending Jahvid Best, David Garrard, and Larry Fitzgerald to acquire QB Chad Henne, Jonathan Stewart, and Jacoby Jones.

Turns out, Matt Hasselbeck (26-points) and the Seattle Seahawks might have some life left in them. That's good news for the rest of the season for the Gauchos, but not so much for this past weekend. Vince Young meanwhile looked like he's continuing to make strides, tossing a 56-yard TD pass against Oakland in Tennesee's big win.

Jamaal Charles hot start at the end of last season spilled over into the Chiefs' opening day win over San Diego, as he broke loose for a 70+ yard run on Monday night and tallied 25-points for the Gauchos.

In the end, the Gauchos simply did not have the right weapons on the field in Week 1. WR Austin Collie (Indy) had a career day (36-points), and the Patriots DST stole the show against Cincinnati (35-points). You can bet that the Gauchos won't make this costly of an error in the weeks to come. (I can personally guarantee that!)

Congrats to the Allie-Gators who have all the looks of a strong contender and now prepare to face the Parking Thugs. The Thugs will be looking for a trip to the pay window after a drubbing by the Delta Marauders. The Gauchos battle the Houston Fuzz in Week 2. Both teams are looking for win #1.

BACKDOOR BANDITS
OPENING WEEKEND
"SPOIL"ED!

Hakeem Nicks simply dominated on Sunday against Carolina, and thanks to his 3 TD performance and 37-point outburst, The Spoiler dropped a 132-95 win on the Backdoor Bandits in Week 1. Nicks caught TD passes of 26-, 19-, and 5-yards in the NY football Giants opening day win.

Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall contributed heavily to the Spoiler victory with a 50-yard TD run and 29-points of his own. Tight end Dallas Clark pitched in with 18-points, and Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers helped out with 17-points on TD passes of 2- and 32-yards.

The one lowlight for The Spoiler might have been the play of Kevin Kolb (1-point). Both bench QBs - Jason Campbell (16-points) and Kyle Orton (19-points) - would have been better options.

The Backdoor Bandits certainly enjoyed the services of #1 draft pick, Chris Johnson, who waxed the Oakland defense with a 76-yard TD run and a 4-yarder for good measure. He was good for 38-points for the BBs. Trouble is, that was pretty much the only ammunition in their arsenal in Week 1.

Kicker Mason Crosby was the only other starter to break double-figures with 12-points. Darren McFadden, the other guy in Sunday's Titans/Raiders game, actually finished looking good with 24-points of his own. But you have to figure that Ryan Grant and Michael Turner are going to have better outings in the coming weeks than their combined 8-points last weekend.

The Bandits will lick their wounds and live to see another day. Next weekend it will be a showdown against the Cougars. The Spoiler, meanwhile, square off with The Megatons in our only "The vs The" game. Best of luck to both teams as we move forward into the season!

DEFENDING CHAMPION PREDATORS
START WHERE THEY LEFT OFF:
HUGE WIN!

The 2009 BCFFL Champion Predators don't look a pound heavier, a day older, or any less than what they were at the conclusion of last season: like champions! The Predators drafted the likes of Peyton Manning and Andre Johnson - fantasy GIANTS! - and went out and pounded the Cougars, 154-96, in their Week 1 match-up.

Manning's Colts lost but he was spectacular with 45-points. Johnson was a little less than spectacular with just 3-points. But his Texans teammate,Arian Foster picked him up BIG TIME with 47-points of his own. If you're keeping score at home, that's 92-points out of 2 players in the same game. That's 4-points less than the Cougars whole squad in Week 1.

So the rest of the line-up for the Predators was gravy. All except for the 49ers DST. This, by the way, was the first DST taken in our draft. Ahead of the Ravens, the Jets, the Chiefs, and any other team. They totaled 0-points. Little did it matter.

Arian Foster is a revelation at RB and he scored 3 times for Houston on runs of  1-, 25-, and 8-yards. The Predators have over 250 rushing yards and 5 rushing TDs (with Jahvid Best's 2 scores), over 600 passing yards courtesty of future Hall of Famers, Favre and Manning, and over 230 receiving yards.

It's tough to beat 10 touchdowns anywhere, anytime. Ouch.

The Cougars are going to have to take this big league butt whooping in stride. It's just one game. Their line-up looks very formidable, but they suffered a couple of slow starts in Adrian Peterson (9-points) and Frank Gore (7-points). The 49ers in general (their defense, Gore, etc) looked terrible.

The QB situation looks promising for the Cougars. Eli Manning had 20-points less than his brother with 25 total. But Mark Sanchez was dreadful (3-points). Perhaps Trent Edwards (13-points) will get the green light in the coming weeks.

The Predators continue their championship encore with a Week 2 battle against the Delta Marauders. With the amount of add/drops these two do, there's absolutely no way of knowing who will be in the starting line-up until about 9:59am this Sunday. The Cougars, as mentioned, will face off against the Backdoor Bandits in Week 2.

MEGATONS WIN A
NAILBITER OVER FUZZ!

The Megatons escaped with a 98-91 win over the Houston Fuzz in Week 1. Cowboys WR Miles Austin helped out tremendously on Sunday night with 24-points in Dallas' road loss to the Redskins. Subtract those 4-points and you'll see what the Megatons were staring at heading into the prime time affair: a loss.

The Houston Fuzz celebrated the start of a new season with a trip to Reliant Stadium to enjoy the Texans 34-24 victory (some are calling it a watershed win) over their division rivals, Indianapolis. How'd you enjoy the game, Campbell?

Carson Palmer led the way for the Fuzz with 27-points at Foxboro. Ronnie Brown was pretty much the only other threat in the line-up on Sunday with 16-points for the Fuzz.

The Megatons countered with Austin's 24-points, Drew Brees' season opener total of 17-points, and Steve Smith's 17-points. Up next for The Megatons will be The Spoiler. The Gauchos are next up for the Fuzz.

DELTA MARAUDERS
TRASH THE THUGS!

If the Texans win over the Colts is to be considered a watershed victory, then the DMs win over the Parking Thugs in Week 1 can be considered a woodshed victory. As in, the DMs whooped the Parking Thugs like they took'em out to the woodshed and let'em have it. Matt Forte scored more points in Week 1 than any player in the rest of our line-ups with 50-points!

Forte was the recipient of an 89-yard TD pass from Jay Cutler in Chicago's win over Detroit. Forte did most of the work on the short route, but he also scored from 28-yards later in the game. This dynamic star for the Delta Marauders (and the Bears!) will certainly be a formidable challenge in the weeks to come.

The Marauders also enjoyed a 30-point performance, plus 3 TDs, from Patriots star and iconic QB, Tom Brady. Sam Bradford had a respectable NFL debut with 12-points and 1TD. His team lost to Arizona, in part due to a late interception he threw, but he was a part of the Marauders winning efforts.

The Parking Thugs #1 and #2 picks, Philip Rivers and Tony Romo combined for 52-points themselves, leading the way for their teams in losing efforts to Kansas City and Washington. LeSean McCoy's 15-points was the only other top performer for the Thugs who look to strengthen their ways with the addition of Brandon Jackson to their line-up on Monday night.

That's all for Week 1 in the BCFFL! Best of luck in Week 2, everyone!

Respectfully submitted.
Alex

BCFFL WEEK 1 PREVIEW!

ORIGINAL DIVISION

GAUCHOS vs ALLIE-GATORS

The BCFFL welcomes back Alex McMurray as an owner and participant once again. The Gauchos' fortunes are led by our 2010 commissioner and owner of some impressive fantasy credentials, including: (a) Least Points Allowed, Season (1,386); Highest Winning Percentage (92%); Most Wins Per Season (12); Longest Winning Streak (9); and Best Power Ranking (30). It's been a few years, but the 2005 BCFFL Champion is ready once again to go to battle this season!

The Allie-Gators, meanwhile, also have the fantasy credentials worthy of championship consideration. They, too, own the Best Power Ranking (30), along with the Most High Week Scores (9); Best Average Point Differential (44.5); Least Points Allowed in a Game (29); as well as a BCFFL Championship banner!

The CBS Sports preview has the Allie-Gators favored by 43-points in Week 1 over the Gauchos, but that obviously remains to be seen. At the moment, the Gators will go with two QBs in Matthew Stafford and Jay Cutler, while the Gauchos will only start Titans' QB, Vince Young.

The Gauchos, heavy at the WR spot are going to roll the dice with Devery Henderson on Thursday night for the possible double-TD and start two other WRs (Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald) along with three RBs: Jamaal Charles, Ray Rice, and Jahvid Best. The Gators will counter with MJD and Cedric Benson at RB, and Wes Welker, Reggie Wayne and Greg Jennings at WR.

Stay tuned as the winner in this contest will likely have an early edge in the Original Division.

BACKDOOR BANDITS vs THE SPOILER

The 2008 BCFFL Champion hopes to regain his championship form in his third BCFFL season as Greg's Backdoor Bandits welcome Kelvin's gang, The Spoiler. The Bandits have a 26-point edge on the CBS Sports site heading into Week 1.

Last season, the Bandits finished with the BCFFL's third all-time highest average game score, 160.23 points. This team knows how to put points on the board and they drafted well this season. Once again they wound up with the #1 overall pick in the draft! We'll get a chance to see right away what Chris Johnson is made of as the Tennessee Titans battle our very own Oakland Raiders in Week 1. Joining CJ in the backfield for the Backdoor Bandits will be the deadly duo of Ryan Grant and Michael Turner. You want to talk about a formidable fantasty three-headed monster. Wow!

The Spoiler have challenged for championships in the BCFFL past and this year they're hoping to get their hands on the trophy. They have their work cut out for them right away with the mighty Bandits. But with their fortunes in the hands of Aaron Rodgers (signal caller for Greg's favorite team, Green Bay) anything could happen and The Spoiler may finally reach the mountaintop. Kevin Kolb will carry the other QB duties for The Spoiler and their RBs for now are Beanie Wells, Shonn Greene, and Rashard Mendenhall.

Catching passes for the Bandits in Week 1 will be DeSean Jackson, Malcolm Floyd, and Tony Gonzalez, while Jeremy Maclin, Josh Cribbs, and Dallas Clark handle the pass-catching responsibilities for The Spoiler. It looks like the Bandits have the edge on paper. We'll have to see if they're as good as advertised this season!

INTER-DIVISION BATTLE!

PREDATORS vs COUGARS

The 2009 BCFFL Champion, Predators, begin defense of their second championship as they face the Cougars in an inter-division contest! With a league best record of 56-29 (since 2005) and Most Points Scored in a Season (2,420) among other records the Predators hold, they have showed no signs of slowing down in their quest for a third BCFFL title this season.

With Peyton Manning and Andre Johnson leading the way, the Predators had a fabulous draft to look back on. And they should feel confident that their title hopes are alive and well as they tackle the new season. The Predators are favored by 28-points on the CBS Sports site heading into Week 1.

Next to Manning, the Predators will challenge the Cougars combo of Peyton's brother, Eli Manning, and Mark Sanchez, with the legendary Brett Favre. At RB, it'll be Arian Foster and Ahmad Bradshaw going up against Adrian Peterson and Frank Gore for the Cougars. You kind of have to like the Cougars chances with that tandem in the backfield. Credit three-time BCFFL champion and ex-BCFFLer John Castanha with the shrewd draft day maneuvering. Go figure: the one time John pays attention on draft day he picks Ken an amazing team.

The WR match-up is also impressive in this contest as Jermichael Finley, Brandon Marshall, and Andre Johnson go for the Preds against Calvin Johnson, Chad Ochocinco, and Percy Harvin for the Cougars. Meanwhile, it'll be Visanthe Shiancoe against Antonio Gates at tight end.

This is definitely a heavyweight fight between two of the original BCFFL powerhouses as the Predators battle the Cougars in Week 1.

EXTRA CRISPY DIVISION

THE MEGATON VS HOUSTON FUZZ

The Megatons, perennial powerhouses of the BCFFL return once again in a quest for their third championship victory. They begin the season as 8-point underdogs to Chris' Houston Fuzz in Week 1.

The Megatons enter the season with Drew Brees at QB along with the talents of Matt Ryan. The Fuzz will trot out their #1 pick in Matt Schaub along with Carson Palmer. At RB, the Tons will enjoy their triple threat of Pierre Thomas, Brandon Jacobs, and Steven Jackson this season. The Fuzz counter with Ryan Mathews, Ronnie Brown, and Marion Barber.

At WR, the Tons go with Panthers all-pro Steve Smith (back from injury) and Miles Austin, with Brent Celek at tight end. The Fuzz have Pierre Garcon, Kevin Walter, and Jason Witten at TE.

This looks to be a fairly evenly-matched battle. Will the Fuzz pull off the opening weekend victory over a BCFFL original in the Extra Crispy Division match-up? Or will Andrew re-assert himself as a title contender early in the season?

DELTA MARAUDERS vs PARKING THUGS

In our final match-up of Week 1, Shane's Delta Marauders are back to battle Bryan and Mark's Parking Thugs in an Extra Crispy Division contest.

The Thugs are favored by 13-points on the CBS Sports site heading into Week 1. They will challenge the DMs Tom Brady and newly-appointed starting QB Sam Bradford with their top pick, Philip Rivers and Cowboys' QB, Tony Romo.

At RB, the DMs look to start Matt Forte and C.J. Spiller against the Fuzz's triple threat of Reggie Bush,  DeAngelo Williams and LeSean McCoy. It's a Battle of the Bay at TE as the 49ers' Vernon Davis (DMs) takes on the Raiders' Zach Miller (Thugs). And lastly, at WR, the DMs put up Mike Wallace, Louis Murphy, and Roddy White against the Thugs' combination of Mike Sims-Walker and NYG's Steve Smith.

The Thugs hope to kick things off with a strong start against the Marauders in Week 1.

*************************

To all participants, have a great first week! Win or lose, it's a long season, so take it in stride this week. Good luck!
