WEEK 5 PREVIEW

The Original Division has an 8-4 edge over the Extra Crispy Division in 12 games this season. In Week 5, all but one game is within the divisions, and the one inter-division match-up features two former champions, The Megatons and Gauchos. These two teams  met just a few years ago in the BCFFL title game as a matter of fact.

The Megatons are off to a very uncharacteristic start at 1-3. This team has historically been one of the toughest to beat, and at times, even compete with. To see them struggling early in the season is unusual, to say the least. Will the slide continue to spiral downward in Week 5, or will The Megatons straighten out the mess once and for all? The season is still young, fortunately, but a step in the right direction with a win this weekend is required.

The Gauchos started off the season unloading a couple of potential stars in Jahvid Best and Larry Fitzgerald, for Dolphins QB Chad Henne, and Panthers RB, Jonathan Stewart. David Garrad and Jacoby Jones completed that trade. They went on to drop their first two games to the Allie-Gators and Houston Fuzz before winning two straight, including last weekend's win over the Backdoor Bandits. So at 2-2, this team once blessed with a 14-1 season and a championship, after a year off, look to try and compete with the 4-0 Predators and Spoiler in the very challenging Original Division.

This one is shaping up to be a good one as The Megatons and Gauchos face off in our GAME of the WEEK! For all of the action in the BCFFL in Week 5, read on!

GAME of the WEEK

THE MEGATONS
(1-3, EXTRA CRISPY DIVISION)
vs
GAUCHOS
(2-2, ORIGINAL DIVISION)
MILES AUSTIN
Avg 102.7 ypg

Back from the bye week, Miles Austin looks to give The Megatons just what they need to have a successful week: POINTS! Coming off a tough 2-point outing to the Texans, Miles Austin is averaging 102.7 yards per game. In his last four games against the AFC, Austin has 25 catches for 486 yards and four touchdowns. The Titans have allowed just one receiver -- Eddie Royal -- to score a touchdown against them this season. However, three WRs -- Steve Smith (NYG), Royal and Brandon Lloyd -- have 100-yard outings against Tennessee.

Drew Brees and Matt Ryan are the star QBs for The Megatons and they're both on the road this weekend: Brees in the desert and Ryan in the armpit of the northeast, Cleveland. Steven Jackson hits the turf at Ford Field on Sunday and Dwayne Bowe and the 3-0 Chiefs visit Lucas Oil Field to challenge the AFC Kings, Indianapolis.

RANDY MOSS
Yes, THAT Randy Moss!

He's baaaaaaaack. But will Randy Moss 2.0 in Minnesota be able to bring it against New York? In his first outing this season against the Jets, Moss had 38 receiving yards, 1 TD, and 13-points. His homecoming game with the Vikings, and Favre's return to face the Jets, coincides with a national audience on Monday night. These two stars are going to get all the attention they could ever want, so the Gauchos hope to be the beneficiaries of a strong night on the gridiron.

Meanwhile, the Gauchos look to TO to continue his resurgence which was on display in a loss to Cleveland last weekend with 222 receiving yards. The Bengals face the Bucs at home this Sunday. Jamaal Charles and Ray Rice handle the running duties, and the Ravens DST may finally have their breakout game at home against Denver, though the NFL's leading passer, Kyle Orton, is looking for another 300-yard game himself.

Good luck to both The Megatons and Gauchos as they face off in our GAME of the WEEK!

PARKING THUGS
(1-3, EXTRA CRISPY DIVISION)
vs
HOUSTON FUZZ
(2-2, EXTRA CRISPY DIVISION)

BRETT FAVRE
Same Face, Different Place

This week's BLOCKBUSTER deal went down as the Parking Thugs sent their #1 pick (#10 overall) Philip Rivers, to the Predators for Brett Favre. The Thugs also picked up Jahvid Best and Larry Fitzgerald. The other details of the trade were available via the website (CBS Sports), but the fact of the matter is, the Thugs now have many options to run with in Week 5: Thomas  Jones, Reggie Bush, Jahvid Best, Brandon Jackson, LeSean McCoy, and DeAngelo Williams at RB for starters. Decisions, decision. With so many options, it's tough to understand how Tony Romo was the starting QB on his bye week last weekend. The Thugs need to bring their record to 2-3 this weekend with so much talent up and down their roster!

MATT SCHAUB
107.2 rating against the NFC

Texans QB Matt Schaub will make his first career start against the Giants in Week 5, but he has absolutely feasted on NFC defenses in his career. Since becoming the Texans' starter in 2007, Schaub has completed 334 of 469 passes (71.2 percent) for 4,090 yards and 22 touchdowns. A lot of heads were turned at the BCFFL draft when Schaub's name was called early in the first round ahead of many other top stars in the NFL.

But to date, Schaub has been terrific and the Houston Fuzz are in second place at 2-2 in the Extra Crispy Division. Joining Schaub in the Fuzz line-up are other staples including Carson Palmer, Tim Hightower, and the playmaker, Braylon "Butterfingers" Edwards. Edwards has only caught a TD pass in his past three games and has 16, 28, and 18 points against the Pats, Fish, and Bills.

This should a tightly contested games between two teams trying to get a leg up in their division. A win would go a long ways for both teams!

DELTA MARAUDERS
(1-3, EXTRA CRISPY DIVISION)
vs
COUGARS
(3-1, EXTRA CRISPY DIVISION)

RODDY WHITE
Primed for a big game in Cleveland.

"Rowdy" Roddy White had his second 100-yard receiving game last Sunday against S.F. with 60 of those yards coming in the last 3 minutes of the game. This weekend he matches up with DB Eric Wright who has struggled mightily the past two weeks defending Anquan Boldin (143 yards, 3 TDs) and TO (222 yards, 1 TD). The DMs are desperated need of a strong performance from White as they look to regain their footing in the standings against the division-leading Cougars (3-1).

Matt Forte travels to Carolina, and Sam Bradford returns to the starting line-up to face Detroit. Vernon Davis and the 49ers DST have the Sunday night home game against Philadelphia. The DMs are going to need to click on all cylinders to compete the Cougars.

FRANK GORE
396 yards and 2 TDs

Frank Gore leads the 3-1 Cougars into Week 5 against the Delta Marauders with a Sunday night match-up against the 27th-ranked run defense in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles. New offensive coordinator Mike Johnson said he was going to not rely on Gore as much in Week 5. "He can handle any situation, but I think it's smart if we find ways to get other people involved." In 2009, Gore rushed for 107 yards on 16 carries against the Eagles. Hopefully Johnson was bluffing, because the Cougars are going to rely on Gore, even if Johnson isn't.

Luckily the Cougars have several other weapons to choose from, including RB Adrian Peterson who goes into Monday night's game against New York with a new teammate in Randy Moss. The NYQBs have Houston at home and Minnesota on Monday night. Antonio Gates has been getting plenty of action and touchdowns, for that matter, in San Diego's offense. And Chad Ochocinco and Calvin Johnson make for quite the tandem at WR. So the Cougars look to notch their fourth victory this season as they face division rival, the Delta Marauders.

PREDATORS
(4-0, ORIGINAL DIVISION)
vs
BACKDOOR BANDITS
(1-3, ORIGINAL DIVISION)

ARIAN FOSTER
47 points in Week 4 at Oakland

A major part of the Predators success in their 4-0 start this season has been the production of Texans RB, Arian Foster. He hit the scene with 44-points on Week 1 and dropped 47 on Oakland last Sunday. With 131 rushing yards and 56 receiving yards against the Raiders in Week 4, RB Arian Foster joined Emmitt Smith and Billy Sims as the only running backs in NFL history to have more than 500 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards after four games. Foster looks to add onto his impressive start in Week 5 against the Giants. New York has allowed RBs to rack up 440 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Titans RB Chris Johnson has been the most successful against the Giants this season, rushing for 125 yards and two scores in Week 3.

Peyton Manning (home vs Chiefs) and Philip Rivers (@ Oakland) are now signal-callers for the Predators after this week's huge trade with the Parking Thugs. With Best and Fitzgerald gone, however, the line-up takes on a little different look. Joining Foster at RB are Mike Tolbert and Ryan Torain, who are getting lots of "sleeper pick" love from fantasy gurus around the league. Tolbert will be in Oakland with Rivers, and Torain is at home against Green Bay.

Lance "Mr. Game Break" Moore makes his debut in the Predators line-up on Sunday in Arizona while Santonio Holmes returns to action against the Vikings on Monday night on the opposite side of the ball as another top flight receiver making his debut of sorts.

The Predators hope to improve to 5-0, but it won't come easy. They'll be facing a very difficult and determined Backdoor Bandits team, 2 weeks removed from a 219-point, $10 outing!

CHRIS JOHNSON
105.3 rushing yards per game vs NFC

Chris Johnson  is going for his seventh straight 100-yard rushing game on the road in Week 5, averaging 131 yards per game during his current six-game streak. The #1 overall pick in this year's draft will hope to bring the Backdoor Bandits back from a 1-3 start in a huge upset over the 4-0 Predators and some life in the Original Division.

Donovan McNabb and Matt Cassel lead the way at QB for the Bandits. Darren McFadden and Michael Turner back up CJ and Santana Moss and DeSean Jackson return to action will aim to get the Bandits over in a big way in Week 5.

So it will be the #1 pick in Chris Johnson against the NFL's #1 rusher, Arian Foster, in Week 5!

THE SPOILER
(4-0, ORIGINAL DIVISION)
vs
ALLIE-GATORS
(1-3, ORIGINAL DIVISION)

DALLAS CLARK
66 fantasy points

The Spoiler enter Week 5 riding atop the BCFFL with the Predators at 4-0. Dallas Clark has been a major contributor all season long and he looks to find more ways to add value on Sunday against Kansas City. Clark has 3 TDs on the season and hopes to score again in his fourth straight game.

Kyle Orton and Aaron Rodgers have been sensational at QB. The RB squad of Beanie Wells and Shonn Greene may have their work cut out for them, but the two tight end duo of Chris Cooley and Dallas Clark have been a big difference maker for the undefeated Spoiler.

RYAN FITZPATRICK
Good enough to start on Sunday?

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been getting love from fantasy experts around the country this week as a sleeper pick. Fitzpatrick threw for 128 yards with 2 TDs and racked up 74 rushing yards for Buffalo in Week 4. That could have something to do with it. For now, Alex Smith and Jay Cutler - coming off of rather tough weeks with 11-points combined in Week 4 - are in the line-up.

Cedric Benson has been outstanding running the ball for Cincinnati. Maurice Jones-Drew had his breakthrough game last weekend against Indianapolis. Greg Jennings, Reggie Wayne, and Wes Welker are are deadly as any wideouts in the game. So it's up to the Allie-Gators to show the league what's up on Sunday as both they, and the Backdoor Bandits, go up against the lone unbeaten teams in The Spoiler and Predators in Week 5.

Good luck to everybody this weekend!
