WEEK 5 REPORT

THE MEGATONS def GAUCHOS
121-110

MILES AUSTIN
166 receiving yards, 1 TD

The Megatons got it straight in Week 5 with a 121-100 victory over the Gauchos. It was a big win for The Megatons, stopping a 3-game skid, and a big win for the Extra Crispy Division, who are now have 5 wins in 13 head-to-head games against the Original Division teams.

Miles Austin 36-point outburst was the difference and was sorely missed in Week 4. Thankfully 3 of the 5 teams in the Extra Crispy Division are 2-3, and the Cougars dropped a tough one and fell to 3-2, so there is a lot of football to be played.

With Shaun Hill's 29-points on the bench in Week 5, one has to wonder if the Lions QB will sit another game out in Week 6. He has been pretty hot lately. Drew Brees and Matt Ryan combined for 34-points in Week 5 for The Megatons as the team's other top leading scorers.

RAY RICE
133 rushing yards, 2 TDs

The Gauchos came up short in Week 5, but their #1 draft pick had the breakout game this team has been waiting for. Ray Rice rushed for 133 yards and 2 TDs in a home victory against Denver. He racked up 31 points on the day.

The only "miss" was Terrell Owens' 20-points, which marks the second straight week of production on the bench for the Bengals receiver. Anquan Boldin and Austin Collie combined for 4-points in a very lowly performance for the Gauchos. Any production out those two at all might have meant the difference in this game.

THE SPOILER def ALLIE-GATORS
123-117

HAKEEM NICKS
130 receiving yards, 2 TDs
And then there was one. The Spoiler remain the only unbeaten team in the BCFFL at 5-0 with a narrow 6-point win over the Allie-Gators in Week 5, 123-117. Hakeem Nicks came up huge in Houston with 130 receiving yards and 2 TDs (6, 12) for 33-points. Kyle Orton remains a dominant passer and Aaron Rodgers and he combined for 48-points.
The Spoiler won but left a lot 33-points on the bench in WR Brandon Lloyd. And if you're looking for a QB, how about the back-ups for this team: Kevin Kolb (19) and Jason Campbell (13). Not bad!

ALEX SMITH
309 passing  yards; 3 TDs

Alex Smith led the Allie-Gators in a losing effort with 30-points in Week 5. Smith threw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs (7, 7, 1). Ryan Fitzpatrick was nearly as good for Buffalo with 29-points for the Gators. He also threw 3 TD passes on 220 yards. Cedric Benson chipped in 17 points rushing the ball.

The receiving corps (Jennings, Wayne) combined for 9-points which was the dagger for this team's chances against The Spoiler. Just 7-points more and we're talking about a big win for the Gators.

Fitzpatrick's WR Lee Evans (reserve) was good for 18-points on Sunday with a 45-yard TD reception.

BACKDOOR BANDITS def PREDATORS
145-88

MALCOLM FLOYD
213 receiving yards, 1 TD

Two weeks ago the Bandits broke loose for over 200-points and a big win over The Megatons. Then they went and dropped a tough one to the Gauchos in Week 4. This week the Bandits rolled the undefeated Predators, 145-88. It's tough to tell which Bandits team you're going to face from week to week.

In Week 5 it was all about Chargers WR Malcolm Floyd who came up with over 200 receiving yards and a TD in San Diego's 35-27 loss to Oakland. The #1 pick Chris Johnson also came up with 29-points in Big D for the Titans. Donovan McNabb passed for 357 yards and a TD in a big win over Green Bay for 22-points.

PHILIP RIVERS
431 passing yards, 2 TDs

The Predators first game with Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers at QB wound up with a sad ending. However, Philip Rivers was not at all disappointing. The Chargers QB threw for over 430 yards and 2 TDs. Unfortunately, 200 of those yards and a TD were at the hands of the Bandits receiver, Malcolm Floyd. Still, Rivers accounted for 34 of the Predators 88-points.

Peyton Manning laid an egg against Kansas City at home, though the Colts won the game. He wound up with 10-points and failed to throw a TD pass. When's the last home game Peyton failed to threw a single TD pass?

David Garrard was left on the bench with 24-points, but would you have started him on this team? Probably not. So, the Predators are a game behind The Spoiler in the Original Division and are now at 4-1. But I wouldn't count this team out for long with this line-up.

PARKING THUGS def HOUSTON FUZZ
172-59

TONY ROMO
406 passing yards, 3 TDs (6, 69, 18)

It certainly makes a difference when Tony Romo is in the line-up and playing an actual game! The Cowboys QB tossed 406 passing yards and 3 TDs in Week 5 to lead the Parking Thugs from the dregs to the $10 prize for the highest weekly total at 172-points. Congrats on your $10 bonus, or maybe you'll split that 50/50. Who knows?

Newly-acquired QB Brett Favre was on target with 29-points in a Monday night loss to the N.Y. Jets. LeSean McCoy had another big game for Philly (21-points). Zach Miller (16) and Steve Smith (18) also contributed significantly in the win.

On the bench for the Thugs was Josh Freeman (20) and Marcedes Lewis (25).

JASON WITTEN
84 receiving yards, 1 TD

This was a really tough one to watch for the Fuzz who came up with 59-points in a blowout loss to the Thugs. Jason Witten was really the only bright spot in the line-up with 18-points. Carson Palmer was the next highest scorer with 16-points in a loss at home to Tampa Bay.

The rest of the line-up for the Fuzz laid an egg in Week 5 and now they'll have to dust off this one and prepare for better results in Week 6. Joe Flacco (19) and Roy Williams (18) had decent games on the bench for the Fuzz.

DELTA MARAUDERS def COUGARS
129-121

MATT FORTE
166 rushing yards, 2 TDs

The Delta Marauders defeated the Extra Crispy Division leading Cougars 129-121 thanks to the big day in Carolina for Bears RB, Matt Forte, who rushed for 166 yards and 2 TDs. His 42-point day was the top performance in Week 5.

Roddy White and Vernon Davis combined for 40-points and 2 TDs receiving. Michael Bush's 21-points came on a 100-yard rushing day and a TD for Oakland.

ELI MANNING
297 passing yards, 3 TDs

The Cougars winning streak was snapped at the hands of the Delta Marauders in Week 5 but they had some true bright spots to reflect on and still remain in 1st place in the Extra Crispy Division. Eli Manning led the way in Week 5 with 28-points coming on 297 passing yards and 3 TDs for the Giants in Houston.

Frank Gore (17), Calvin Johnson (15), and Antonio Gates (19) were the teams' other leading scorers. Percy Harvin's 29-points on the bench could have lifted the Cougars in Week 5, but they'll have to settle for leading their division after losing a tough one to the Marauders.
