DELTA MARAUDERS UPSET MEGATONS!
BRADY DOES IT AGAIN!
136-130
TOM BRADY
40-points
The Delta Marauders were down but not out in their Week 13 match-up against The Megatons. Nothing like a 53-point night out of your DST, PK, and QB to help you come back and steal the victory. It was a tough way for the E.C. Division champion to go out on the regular season, but it was a helluva way for the Delta Marauders to stake their claim as contenders for this year's BCFFL championship.
With Tom Brady at QB, the Marauders' first round draft pick has to be considered one of the most dangerous threats heading into the BCFFL postseason. Brady threw for 326 yards, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs on Monday night in a 45-3 victory at home over the previously 9-2 N.Y. Jets.
Vernon Davis added 32-points which mostly came on a beautiful 66-yard TD reception in Green Bay.
Matt Forte added 17-points for Chicago and Ben Roethlisberger contributed 16-points in victory over Baltimore on Sunday night.
LeGarrette Blount (18) and Michael Bush (17) were strong on the bench for the Marauders and may have prevented this game from being a 6-point difference had they been in the starting line-up. We'll have to see what kind of line-up the Marauders send out in their wild card playoff game in Week 14.
DREW BREES
31-points
The Megatons had won 7 of their past 8 games, including a Week 9 victory (119-107) over the Delta Marauders. They took over the Extra Crispy Division lead, earned the #2 seed in the playoffs and a bye in the wild card round. Everything was falling into place, and suddenly, the Delta Marauders quickly reminded us all that nothing is guaranteed, especially in the postseason.
Despite the best efforts of Sports Illustrated's "Sportsman of the Year," Drew Brees, and his 31-points against Cincinnati, the Marauders' QB Tom Brady was 9-points better, and the 6-point difference cost The Megatons the game.
Brandon Jacobs had a huge day in New York for 26-points. Steven Jackson (19) and Knowshon Moreno (17) also had big days for The Megatons' rushing attack. With this kind of production late in the season, opponents should be advised that major points are being produced by this trio of power backs.
Dwayne Bowe (0) and Miles Austin (1) however had an extreme power outage. After catching 13 TDs in his past 7 games, Bowe did little of anything in Kansas City's win over Denver. Same bad news for Austin in Dallas' victory at Indianapolis.
So, a much-needed bye week ought to give The Megatons time to retool and prepare for their semi-final contest in Week 15.
ALLIE-GATORS DOMINATE BANDITS:
195-129
GREG JENNINGS
42-points
The Allie-Gators captured the final $10 prize of the regular season with a 195-point outburst in Week 13. Greg Jennings led the way with 42-points with 2 TDs including a 57-yard reception. Sidney Rice and Reggie Wayne combined for 60-points.
Jay Cutler (18) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (11) combined for 392 passing yards and 2 TDs. Cedric Benson (21) and Maurice Jones-Drew (18) rushed for a total of 252 yards and 2 TDs.
The Gators close out the season with a 5-7-1 record and a victory over their rivals. The season overall ends up a disappointment, but with scoring production like this, the Gators can still capture the weekly $10 prize, if nothing else.
MICHAEL VICK
37-points
The Bandits clearly struggled in Week 13 but no one is taking this team lightly heading into the playoffs. At least, no one should. Not when you have Michael Vick who has been destroying it week in and week out. Vick was good for 37-points in Week 13 against Houston. He gets the Sunday night match-up in Week 14 against Dallas.
Matt Cassel had 15-points for Kansas City. Mike Williams (16) and Michael Turner (16) played key roles in Week 13 for the Bandits as well. Darren McFadden had an incredible day in San Diego, rushing for 97 yards and a 7-yard TD run for 20-points.
The Bandits have to quickly put this behind them and gear up for the wild card round. Considering what Michael Vick has done lately, don't be surprised if the Bandits go deep into the postseason.
HOUSTON FUZZ DROP COUGARS
111-105
MATT SCHAUB
26-points
Clearly this was too little, too late for the Houston Fuzz, but they played the role of spoiler to perfection with a 111-105 win over the Cougars, which dropped Ken's team to a 3rd place finish in the Extra Crispy Division. It's only fitting that the surprise #1 pick for the Fuzz led the way as Matt Schaub threw for 26-points against Philadelphia.
Joe Flacco (16) and Marques Colston (16) figured in the win as well. Jason Witten (14) came up with a big day in Indianapolis. And so, the Houston Fuzz close out a tough season with their third victory and a costly one for the Cougars at that.
ADRIAN PETERSON
34-points
The Cougars sure are glad to see 34-points out of Adrian Peterson right at the start of the playoffs. With Frank Gore out, the nucleus of the Cougars offense has taken a major hit. Adrian Peterson had been struggling as of late, too, but it appears that he has new life in his legs.
Calvin Johnson (16) and Antonio Gates (17) were major players for the Cougars in Week 13. The major power outage came at the QB position as Eli Manning and Mark Sanchez combined for 10-points. A tough pill to swallow when you consider that the Cougars lost by 6-points to the 3-10 Fuzz with 2nd place in the division on the line.
The struggling Cougars have to pull it together before Thursday night when they open the playoffs against the surging Delta Marauders and Tom Brady.
#1 PREDATORS CLOSE SEASON WITH A BANG!
111-104
ARIAN FOSTER
28-points
The Predators look strong entering the playoffs with a bye in Week 14. Arian Foster led the Predators to a 111-104 victory in Week 13 over the Parking Thugs with 28-points. Peyton Manning (22) and Philip Rivers (18) were productive at QB despite tough losses to Dallas and Oakland.
An interesting side note here is that the Predators' Philip Rivers (18) was going head-to-head against the Thugs' Brett Favre (acquired via trade with the Predators) and in the season finale, Favre came up with -2-points and was taken off the field with an injury.
Andre Johnson avoided suspension from his incident in Week 12 with the Titans Cortland Finnegan and came up with 15-points in Week 13 against Philly.
The Predators bench came up with outstanding weeks in different places: Marshawn Lynch (33), Deion Branch (16), and Ahmad Bradshaw (22) have proven themselves worthy of consideration in this line-up. We'll have to wait and see if they make the starting line-up in Week 15 when the Predators begin their postseason.
LeSEAN McCOY
30-points
The Parking Thugs finished off the regular season with a tough loss to the Predators. LeSean McCoy had another great week finishing with 30-points against Houston. BenJarvus Green-Ellis (23) also had a strong week rushing the ball for New England.
Josh Freeman (15), Jacoby Ford (10), and Thomas Jones (10) were the other big contributors for the Thugs in defeat.
THE SPOILER ROLL THE GAUCHOS
106-92
AARON RODGERS
47-points
The Spoiler defeated the Gauchos in Week 13, 106-92, and now prepare for a wild card showdown with the Backdoor Bandits. This is another team with a very strong QB in Aaron Rodgers, who threw for 47-points against San Francisco.
Terrell Owens (14) and the Giants DST (14) factored in The Spoiler's total in Week 13 with big points.
On the bench, Jason Campbell (22) and Jon Kitna (18) fared much better than #2 starter, Kyle Orton.
Ben Watson (20) was also strong on the bench for The Spoiler.
ANQUAN BOLDIN
21-points
The Gauchos closed out a disappointed regular season at 3-10 with a loss to The Spoiler. After a year off from the BCFFL, the Gauchos had paid their dues with a lousy season and hope to come back better prepared in 2011.
Anquan Boldin was the team leader with 21-points in defeat to Pittsburgh on Sunday night. Jonathan Stewart (17) and Jamaal Charles (13) were the other leading players for the Gauchos as they fell to The Spoiler in their season finale.
So, good luck to all as we enter the wild card round, and best of luck to the non-playoff teams as we play for the $10 weekly prize!
