TOM BRADY EXPRESS DELIVERS AGAIN!
DMs CELEBRATE 1st BCFFL TITLE!
159-92

TOM BRADY
26-points

The Delta Marauders were crowned BCFFL Champions after defeating the Backdoor Bandits, 159-92, win Week 16. The Marauders 159-points were the highest total of all 10 teams in the league, although they were not eligible for the $10 prize. That honor, for the third week in a row and for the entirety of the playoffs goes once again to the Parking Thugs with 126-points.

The DMs good luck charm and top draft pick, Tom Brady, continued his strong play with 26-points on 140 passing yards and 3 TDs in victory over Buffalo. And it's fitting that in our league, of all leagues, that drafts QB early and often, the title game featured 56-points out of the DMs quarterbacks (Brady/Roethlisberger) alone, and a total of 55-points out of all the RBs on both the Marauders (Blount, Bush, and Forte) and Bandits (Turner, McFadden, and Johnson) combined. And that includes this year's #1 draft pick, Chris Johnson.

In essence, this game validated both our drafting strategy of taking QBs early, as well as Shane's unorthodox  draft strategies. For example, Ben Roethlisberger, his team's highest scorer in the title game with 30-points, was not eligible to play until Week 5. It hurt the DMs in the sense that they entered the playoffs as the #4 seed, but paid off in that he came through with such a strong total when it mattered the most. Shane is now among champions as a BCFFL owner.

And lest you think this was a case of someone getting lucky at the end, consider this: the Delta Marauders finished the season with a 7-game winning streak. Their last loss came in Week 9 (Nov 2-8) to the Megatons, 119-107.

From Week 10 forward, the Marauders never lost. They tied the Allie-Gators in Week 8, 101-101. They dropped 206-points on the Parking Thugs in Week 7 and earned that week's $10 prize. And in Week 6, the Marauders actually lost their only other match-up with the Backdoor Bandits this season, 132-123. So, from going 1-2-1 in Weeks 6-9, to 7-0 after that, Shane's team became a championship contender and was able to take it all the way to winning it all.

PATRIOTS DST
15-points

The Patriots DST also came to play. They recorded 2 sacks on Ryan Fitzpatrick, recovered 4 fumbles, had 3 interceptions, and racked up 15-points on the Bills.

BEN ROETHLISBERGER
30-points

"Big" Ben Roethlisberger saved his best for last. Roethlisberger trounced the Panthers to the tune of 320 passing yards, a TD, and rushing TD on his way to 30-points.

MIKE WALLACE
20-points

One of Roethlisberger's key targets, Mike Wallace, caught a 43-yard TD pass and had 104 receiving yards against Carolina.

MATT FORTE
24-points

Bears RB Matt Forte had a strong outing in the snow against the N.Y. Jets with 113 rushing yards, a 22-yard TD run, and 56 receiving yards.

LeGARRETTE BLOUNT
16-points

Draft day afterthought-turned-Rookie-of-the-Year, LeGarrette Blount erupted for 164 rushing yards and 16-points. Making the most of his shot with Tampa Bay and the Marauders, Blount remained a steady force throughout the past 7 games.

RODDY WHITE
14-points

"Rowdy" Roddy White had 43 receiving yards and a 7-yard TD catch on Monday night against New Orleans.

The rest of Marauders line up included Michael Bush (2), Vernon Davis (7),  and Jeff Reed (5). Substantial bench points came from Sam Bradford (20) although he less productive than either Brady or Ben Roethlisberger. Nick Folk (10) and the 49ers DST (16) might have been worth consideration. Overall, the Marauders total surpassed 9 other teams in Week 16 and was good enough to clinch the league championship.

MICHAEL VICK
31-points

Once again, Michael Vick gave the Backdoor Bandits all that he possibly could. Playing in a game delayed by 48 hours, Vick threw for 263 yards and a 3-yard TD pass, to go along with a 10-yard TD run and 63 rushing yards for 31-points. Sadly, he was left without much support in Week 16. This year Michael Vick has gone from dog fighting pariah to NFL MVP. He's earned praise from the toughest fans in the country playing for Philadelphia, and he's given this team a shot at a Super Bowl by qualifying them for postseason play as the #3 seed in the NFC.

REX GROSSMAN
13-points

A little bit of irony here, as Donovan McNabb, excused from Philadelphia thanks to the arrival of Michael Vick, goes to the bench in Washington in favor of Rex Grossman. Rex had a solid outing in Week 15 which helped the Bandits advance to the title game. In Week 16, Grossman passed for 182 yards and a 1-yard TD for 13-points. Perhaps Matt Cassel, back from an appendectomy, would have been a good bet with 41-points on 314 passing yards and 3 TDs (14, 5, 75) although the scouting report heading into Week 16 might not have indicated he was capable of such a strong performance. Cassel helped KC clinch the AFC West and eliminate the Raiders from the postseason.

DAVID BUEHLER
11-points

The only other double-digit performance from the Backdoor Bandits in Week 16 was placekicker, David Buehler, of the Dallas Cowboys. He had 2 FGs (42, 52) and 2 XPs for 11-points in a 27-26 loss to Arizona on Christmas Day.

The Bandits bench was the real story of the game. They bench wound up with more points - 177 - than the Marauders starting 10. However, how do you start Danny Woodhead (20), Kenny Britt (28), Michael Crabtree (32), Mike Williams (24), or Brandon Pettigrew (17) over DeSean Jackson, Michael Turner, Santana Moss, or Darren McFadden?

Had the Bandits gone with Vick, Cassel, Woodhead, McFadden, Crabtree, Britt, Williams, Pettigrew, Buehler, and the Jets DST, they would have finished Week 16 with 220-points. It is what it is. Clearly we had the league's two best teams in the biggest game of the year. Congratulations to Greg and the Backdoor Bandits on coming up with a second place finish and better luck next season.

Meanwhile, this one was a long time coming for the Marauders. After 16 years of BCFFL action, many of which Shane has participated, though we missed a year or two to deployment (thank you again for your service to our country) winning the BCFFL Championship seemed like the impossible dream. It has eluded the best of us. It took Derrick 10 years to win it all, and now he's a two-time champion. But look around the league and you'll see just how hard it is to win it the BCFFL Championship. We have a very competitive league from top to bottom.

I'll never forget the year I won the BCFFL Championship and finished 15-1. You know who that one loss came to? You guessed it: the Delta Marauders.

Congratulations, Shane, on becoming this year's BCFFL Champions. You are THE MAN!
